Bookish Christmas

Not only did I have a wonderful Christmas, but I received some wonderful gifts for Christmas. Not least of which were the bookish ones, including a gift certificate that will buy me several Barbara Pyms (exciting). In books unvirtual, I had several wishes granted: Penelope Lively’s latest Family Album (which was one of the New York Times‘ notable books of the year), Bugs and the Victorians (which was my heart’s desire), and Karen Connelly’s Burmese Lessons, which I just finished reading and was everything I wanted it to be.

I am also going to become card-carrying member of the Barbara Pym Society. This is very, very exciting.

They all sound good, but I'm particularly fascinated by Bugs and the Victorians. I will definitely be looking for a copy of that one!

i will check out the Lively – it looks good. But even better? The reviewer is Dominique Browning, whose new book, which I did not even know about, comes out in May. Yay!

I scored some Persephone novels and two new knitting books. Christmas rocks : )

Bugs and the Victorians was a great surprise. I am excited about it.

Oh, and I'm jealous of your Persephone books. They're so beautiful. I want to visit their bookshop the next time I'm in London, though who knows when that will be??

  • Melanie says:

Hope you will enjoy your Lively! I adored it. And have fun with your Bugs. :)
